We're having a superbowl party. Arizona is in my division, so even though I like to root for the underdog, GO STEELERS!

Hope everyone is well.

David, someone didn't believe me about the Car-Pits thing... and alas, good old wikipedia set them straight. Why weren't you this cool in high school to me? LOL... John

Hey John,
My advice almost paid off....I thought the Cards were gonna pull it off. It was a hell of a game tho. It's funny, I found that on Wiki but also heard it on the pre-game broadcast on Sirius.

Oh, I was a bit of a tool in HS! Just trying to find my place in the pecking order. Too bad ya' can't go back, but I guess it's all part of the maturation process which comes later for some of us! ;)

John, not sure what you are referring to ? please elaborate.

Just to let you all know after my posting last week about it being 77 degrees, we had a cold front come through. Today, as my son was leaving for school, he was able to make a snowball. Granted it was made from frost on the car, but nonetheless it was a snowball. So we put it in the freezer to try and preserve it and see how long it lasts. As you can see, it does get really cold (Florida cold) in Florida. But it just reaffirms one of the reasons I moved to Florida. Hope everyone is doing well and I'm sorry Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow. I'll try to send some sun and warm weather.

Maury

Dave, I have the photos that you and Lucia ordered ready to deliver. Let me know when I can get them to you. Thanks for your order!

John Overholtz (Overholtz)

Mr. Peregrim, I wasn't referring to you :) I was speaking of Mr. Smith. He is right, he was a bit of a tool in HS. LOL. But at least now he has done something good for this world.. check out his beautiful children. I love that word, tool. If you listen closely to Pink's song So What, she says... So What I am still a rock star, and your a tool... too funny. On another note, a classmate messaged me and reminded me that her and I got married in the back alley of Thomas Jefferson Elementary School. I can't even remember the year, but it must be our 25th or something, isn't that Gold.. ROFL. Oh By the Way... is is about 2 pm here right now and 80 degrees, about to head out to play tennis... Hope you can say the same back in good old Pennsyltucky. :)

yeah we've got close to 80 temps here too, cept it's incredibly windy, can't even enjoy it. But that's how it is down here in south texas, got all those gulf winds. unlike John's city, which is the equivalent to hell

John Overholtz (Overholtz)

Aw c'mon Diane, Hell is better than this, it is hot, you get all the sex and drugs you want, oh there are moments of excruciating pain in Hell, but it balances out. Here in Phoenix, it is just hot. And remember the old adage.. its a dry heat. And I can understand why you think where you are is paradise, after all, it is the home state of our most recent past president, known for his incredible brilliance...

Maury Mackie (Schelm)

Hey John! My husband, Mark, our son, Mark Jr., and I vacationed in Phoenix in July 2003. Stupid mistake on our part! The way I described the heat to people back home (Florida) was like standing in front of a running car's radiator. "It's a dry heat!" Yeah so is a blow torch! LOL It was 117 degrees when we got there in the afternoon. Anyway, all of Arizona is BEAUTIFUL and we cannot wait to return. Sedona was unbelieveable although Slide Rock was closed, the Grand Canyon was amazing, Vegas.....considering we stayed at the $2 hooker hotel, I'll let you know the next time we go. Now we know what time of year NOT to go to Arizona.

Steven Olenchak

I know what you guys mean with the heat in Arizona. Whoa! I can never live there, it's always about 5-10 degrees hotter there than here. Maury, the hooker hotel price is now one dollar a night due to the economy. Come back soon!

02/09/09 03:14 PM #187

John Overholtz (Overholtz)

LOL You guys are way too funny. I just got back from LV, stayed at the Encore, it was very cool, but doesn't seem to compare with the bargain that can be had at the HO Hotel. I always stay on the strip, otherwise it can get way G to the HETTO. Seriously though, please look me up when you are in town, I really enjoy this place and enjoy showing people around, I also know all the best restaurants :) and not the tourist traps. I also can hook u up with the best times to come see Lilo and Sam or Britney when they are in Scottsdale, which is only 7 miles from me. (Can't promise you will see a train wreck, but it is highly likely). Also, I can remember the first time I crossed a five lane street in the summer, as the wind whipped the air across the heated pavement, all I could remember was thinking, this is what it must feel like to be microwaved.

Well I have family in Arizona, so next time I make it there I'll look you up John. It is really beautiful there. a nephew took us out on his speed boat on some lake in the middle of all the brownness and it was truly beautiful. we all went wake boarding which was awesome! can't wait to try that again. but my next trip is up to Penn to visit family in maybe June. can't wait!!

Oh how I am missing my 16 years in the southwest right now. I was just a little closer to the border in Tucson. I moved there in October of 92 and when I was approaching my first summer everyone told me-"Don't worry, it's a dry heat and you don't even sweat." Well I worked 8 hours a day outside and let me tell you, I sweat like a mother ^&($^#!!! I have to say though, I grew to love it. There's nothing like yanking bermuda grass from your hummingbird garden until sweat pours off your nose and elbows--only problem with that is when the neighbor comes by and you stand to say hello and experience the most wicked head rush ever and she thinks you are a fumbling idiot. Wait-I miss the head rushes too! When we buy our house we are making an Arizona room-Mexican blankets, story teller statues, ladders that lean on your wall and go nowhere, bright, bright lights and 10 hairdryers blowing on high!
I would like winter to make it's exit now.

Hey Diane! I like the Arizona room idea, especially the 10 hairdryer touch! LOL

North Carolina's not bad and you can Drive back to Pa (8 hours Later)for you 25th reunion!!!!

02/24/09 09:29 AM #192

Maury Mackie (Schelm)

I agree, Vince, North Carolina is beautiful! We drive through on our trips to PA. Our most favorite place and possiblly the place where we would like to retire to is Lake Norman area of North Carolina. Lake Norman is about 20 miles from Charlotte. We also have some friends that have mountain homes in the Murphy area. Maggie Valley is a great place for skiing too. I've never been there, but I know many people that have and they said it's great especially for the kids. The nice thing about North Carolina is that you still have the seasons and for me and my family it's either a 12 hour drive to Florida or a 12 hour drive to Scranton.

Drew Mackie

Maury,
I agree, Lake Norman looks awesome. My daughter had a softball tournament in Charlotte last year and we drove pass Lake Norman. I told her to keep Davidson College on her list of schools to visit, it's practically on the lake.

Maury Mackie (Schelm)

Hi Drew!
We had stopped at a Wal-Mart in Morrisville (Lake Norman area) either driving to or from PA and we hardly knew we were in a Wal-Mart. The people are so friendly there and it was clean and nice. Sometimes we take a little detour off I-77 when we come to that area to do a little sight seeing. We spent the night in that area when we drove up for the reunion. Also Charlotte is not too far away. We drove through Charlotte at night on that trip and it was just gorgeous. The city was all lit up at night. We tried to take pictures, but they don't do it justice. Little Mark talks of following in the footsteps of Michael Jordan and has said about going to UNC - Charlotte. Mark and I have no objections to that, although mom and dad will follow him, I hope he knows. Davidson would not be a bad choice either. I wish Erika all the best! We will have to come and see her play if she goes there! That would be very exciting!
